Hello, hello!

If you've been following me lately, I know what you may be thinking — "aren't you moving tomorrow?" Yupp, sure am (which means I'll make this quick). I'm moving into a new apartment tomorrow and I still have so much packing to do! You see, I have moved SO many times that I've kind of become a pro when it comes to packing. This time is a little different since I'm just moving to the building next door, so I've had this mindset that I'm not really moving that far, so I don't need to pack ahead of time. I know, this is totally bogus because it's not like I'm going to individually walk over every dish and glass in my apartment. Nevertheless, that is why I'm behind on my usually prompt and perfected packing timeline.

Okay, I'll keep this brief, since you know, my stuff isn't going to magically pack itself. I'm absolutely in love with the weather lately. It's warm, sunny, and the flowers are finally starting to bloom. This warmer weather means that I can bring out my spring favorites — cropped pants, dresses, sandals and all of the hot pink lipstick. Last weekend, I spent my afternoon downtown in a casual stripe t-shirt dress, sandals and a denim jacket. Topped off with a leather crossbody, gold jewelry and my favorite Ray Bans, this casual spring style is going to become my weekend go-to. The great news for you? This entire outfit is incredibly affordable with just about everything on sale! Can you believe these shoes are under $25?! Shop the links below!

my picks: spring shoes

Hey there!

It's only Tuesday, but I already know that this week is going to be absolutely nuts. I'm moving into a new apartment this Saturday and I haven't started packing yet! EEK! I know. That's so bad. It's totally not like me either, but I've just been swamped this month! But for both of our sake, I'm going to keep this short and sweet!

It's no secret that I have a lot of clothes, but there are definitely things that I have a knack for collecting — jeans, stripes, dresses and shoes. I am a firm believer that one can never have too many shoes (or jeans, stripes or dresses!), so I always have an eye out for new styles, colors and sales at my go-to shoe retailers. After a handful of shopping trips and constant scouring the ends of the internet, I pulled together my picks for the best spring shoes. My picks range in style, color, personality and price, ranging from $23 to $148.

prep at heart

Hey there!

Happy Friday! This month has just been FLYING, am I right? Between my birthday last week, the VB Annual Outlet Sale this week and moving next week, it's GONNA BE MAY before we know it. As excited as I am for summer (and maybe getting a little bit of a tan), I'm not ready for spring to be over quite yet. Even though spring isn't necessarily my favorite season, it's actually one of my faves for the fashion. After suffering through many months of cold in boots and puffer jackets, there's nothing I love more than busting out cropped jeans and cute flats.

My overall style seems to slightly differ by season. In the summer I'm pretty girly and fun; fall I'm a little edgier and menswear-inspired; winter I'm minimalistic; spring I'm preppy and colorful. My inner prep shows through my many blue and white striped tops, button-downs, ankle pants and pop color accessories. Half of the time, I end up looking like a walking American flag through my primarily blue and white closet and my love of red lipstick and accessories.

So here it is: my first walking-American-flag outfit of the year. This is definitely a favorite of mine.

LOFT Boyfriend Shirt (similar styles from Gap here and here) | Gap High Rise Skinny Jeans (similar and on sale!) | Vera Bradley Carson Saddle Bag | Topshop Lace Up Flats (under $25 at Target!) | Free People Sunglasses | Sugarfix by Baublebar Tassel Earrings | Alex and Ani Bangles

5 staples you need in your closet for spring

Fashion FixKaylee DeLacyComment

Hello, hello!

I can't believe April is already half way over! This month is truly flying by and it's only going to get crazier. This week is Vera Bradley's Annual Outlet Sale, so if you need me, I'll be running around among thousands of shoppers giving away prizes and Snapchatting until my hands fall off. Next week I'll be in full packing mode since I'm switching apartments the last weekend of April. I'll share more on that later!

Now that it's finally getting warmer outside, I am in full spring mode. I purged my closet and I'm ready to invest in a few more spring staples. This got me thinking — what exactly are the spring staples for my wardrobe? Obviously, my staples may not be the same as yours, since our styles may not be defined in the same way. My style is a lot of things, but overall I would describe my style as modern and feminine with a menswear-inspired preppiness (is that a thing?). If you see yourself in even part of that description, then this one is for you!

I started to study my wardrobe tendencies and what items I constantly gravitate toward, and five things constantly came up.

1. THE Spring Jacket

What I mean by "THE Spring Jacket" is that you need a versatile jacket that will go with EVERYTHING. You want a jacket that you can throw on and it will automatically complete every outfit. For me, it's my leather jacket. It's actually a faux-leather jacket in cognac that surprisingly enough, I got from Target several years ago. I love it over dresses, paired with skinny jeans or boyfriend jeans, and over button-downs and tees. It goes with everything and I couldn't make it through spring without it. They have a really similar style right now for less than $40. Otherwise, I've always been happy with any faux-leather jackets from Express.

2. A Bandana (or five...)

Last year I got hooked on bandanas and I never looked back. At least 3 days of the week, I find myself incorporating one into my outfit in one way or another. Most frequently, I wear mine as an ascot. There is truly nothing that makes me feel more feminine than wearing an ascot (even more so than a dress!). Other times, I'll tie it to one of my leather bags for a feminine touch. I've even wrapped mine around my wrist as a bracelet of sorts. I have several from J. Crew that I love, which are pretty inexpensive too, ranging from $10-$25. You can see their full collection here.

3. The Perfect Flats

There I go again with "THE" preceding the item, but it's for good reason. I am a total flats girl. I own SO many pairs of d'orsay style flats that some may find it straight up silly. I'll be upfront with you though — I have the ugliest feet. I know what you're thinking — you're a lady, that in itself means that it can NOT be true, but alas, it is. I have terrible circulation so my feet always look dead — like actually dead. I'm pretty sure I wore fuzzy socks the first few months Brian and I dated so he wouldn't see them, which was funny since we met in June. So as much as I find sandals adorable, I very rarely wear them to work or for pictures unless it's middle of the summer and I just can't bear to wear anything else. That was a long-winded way of saying that flats are my go-to for spring.

As nice as it is that I have a lot of pairs of flats, I find myself constantly going to the same two pairs. The first is the navy and white striped Gemma Flat from J. Crew. Navy and white stripes are a neutral to me, so I literally will wear them with ANYTHING. When I start to worry that I'm going to wear those out, I'll go with my maroon suede d'orsay flats from Banana Republic. Even though they're maroon and suede, I'll totally rock them in the spring. I don't need to tell you what flats look good with, but I wear mine the most with boyfriend jeans, skinny jeans, dresses and slim pants. If you're looking for a striped pair, I found something super similar to mine at Talbots, and there is an adorable suede pair on sale right now at J. Jill!

4. Cropped Jeans

Maybe it's because all of my jeans were always high-waters on my unusually tall frame growing up, but I have a thing for cropped jeans. The last 4 pairs of jeans I've bought have all been cropped and I have no regrets. From March to October, I live in these shorter styles and you should too! Cropped jeans are breezier for the warm months and show off all of those adorable lace-up shoes you've been wearing non-stop. My all-time favorite pair of jeans is the Billie Demi Boot Crop Jean from J. Crew. It's a high rise, cropped jean with a bit of a kick at the hem that is flattering on all. Lucky for you, most of their rinses are on super sale right now! I also love their Vintage Crop Jean, which you can get for under $35!

5. All of the Stripes

Stripes are my thing, so no surprise here that it made this list. I love stripes in pretty much every form, but I would say the key ones to get would be a navy and white striped tee and a striped button-down. Half of my closet is a blue/white stripe combo and I wear every single one of them. A lot. Like I said, stripes are a neutral and you can pair them with anything. The good news is that almost everywhere sells a good stripe tee. I love these classics for under $40 and under $20, but I also love this statement one for that's under $30! For stripe button-downs, you can't go wrong with this Short Sleeve Stripe Popover from J. Crew.

So what do you think? Are these your staples too? Tell me your favorite spring pieces in the comments!

Until next time —

twenty five

Fashion FixKaylee DeLacyComment

Hello, hello!

Another birthday has come and gone. Twenty-four is gone and twenty-five is here. Twenty-four was a really amazing year for me. I had just recently started my new job at Vera Bradley. I was completely starting over in a new city in a new state, far away from everything I knew. I worked hard, travelled, had some amazing experiences and even met my guy. Twenty-four honestly will be pretty hard to beat — but I have high hopes for twenty-five. Brian and I have only just started our story. We have so many plans and I can't wait to see where the rest of the year takes us.

I'm hoping to see my family a little more than last year and spend more time doing the things I value most. In 2017, a few of my main goals revolved around health and fitness. Last year was my healthiest year yet, but this year I'm already kicking 2016's booty. I want 25 to be healthier, stronger and happier than ever. I also decided that I want to spend more time here — on my blog. The recent Blogging for Keeps workshop I attended gave me a newfound motivation and I've already been trying to step it up. I want to blog more frequently and bring you guys awesome content that you learn from, are inspired by and maybe even laugh at (and/or with) on a regular basis. So definitely share in the comments if there are any topics you'd love for me to cover!

Every year for my birthday, I seem to have really high expectations for the weather. I usually plan my birthday outfit to be a dress or a skirt. When the weather turns out to be snow or freezing rain (as it is more often than not), my birthday dreams are crushed and I feel like I have nothing to wear. This year I decided to be realistic from the get-go and wore my new lace-up tee and crop jeans. The weather was in the sixties with some sunshine, so it was absolutely perfect! I topped off my look with some glam accessories — gold flats, a leopard belt, cat-eye sunnies and gold jewelry (get the outfit deets below).

Here's to another amazing year!

J. Crew Lace Up Tee (they still have it in navy!) | J. Crew Vintage Crop Jeans (similar wash on sale here) | Vera Bradley Sagebrush Satchel | J. Crew Gold Flats (similar pair here, or this Target pair is under $25!) | J. Crew Factory Leopard Belt (similar from Target for under $20) | LOFT Cat-Eye Sunglasses (on sale!!)
